Melissa Chau is a Senior Research Manager with IDC’s Asia/Pacific Client Devices team. She is involved in building IDC's successful research tracker programs and producing core market data used across all of IDC's Asia/Pacific research reports and consulting projects. Based in Singapore, Melissa focuses on the Asia/Pacific Mobile Phone and Media Tablet Tracker programs as well as a Mobile Devices CIS program. In these areas, she is responsible for sizing and forecasting the mobile phone and media tablets markets on a quarterly basis across 13 countries and examining competitive trends and end-user research.
Having joined IDC in 2004, Melissa spent three years as part of the Publishing Services & Technology Group. After making the switch to the Client Devices team, she has since appeared in print and on TV, including CNBC and national publications like the Straits Times. Prior to IDC, Melissa had also worked in IT, editing, and analysis-related fields in China, Taiwan and Canada respectively.
Melissa holds a bachelor’s degree of commerce from the University of Alberta’s School of Business in Canada, majoring in international business.
